The M50 – Now Better, Faster, Cheaper!
Amazingly, the M50 is now better, faster, and cheaper! This will come as quite a surprise to Irish readers, who know the M50 as the most dysfunctional road in Ireland. Unfortunately, the M50 in question here is the new keyboard from Korg, which is essentially a cut-down version of the M3, very reasonably priced at under €1000, and weighing in at a a measly 15 pounds (a major breakthrough for Korg Workstations, which have tended to be super-heavy).
The M50 will compete more-or-less directly with the Roland Juno G and the Yamaha MO, both of which are cut-down versions of their higher-end Fantom and Motif ranges.
Korg are a little behind the curve here, and the Juno G and MO both sound amazing for the price. Besides which, the Juno G is very nicely featured with a MIDI and audio sequencer built in. But Korg they have added a touchscreen to the M50, which at that price, is pretty nifty.
As usual, with the big 3, they are all pretty great, so it comes down to taste as to which you prefer. Personally, for features, I’d still go for the Juno, but this M50 is a real contender.
I wonder if you can pay for it on eFlow?
