Looking for a cheaper and more versatile Logic/Pro Tools remote controller than Far Out Labs ProTransport? Well, you need look no further! PowerKeys is exactly what you need. In fact, you can pretty much control anything that has keyboard shortcuts with this thing. For Logic, I stuck in some transport controls, plus a mute button, drop-in/out, track up and down, save, arrange/mix page buttons and a few other shortcuts. It’s brilliant to be able to drop into record from across the room, or even from another room.

Of course, it’s not just audio apps that can get the remote control treatment. What about remote-controlling PowerPoint presentations? Or even DVD Player or VLC on your Mac? It’s all especially pertinent now that new Mac laptops no longer come with the little Apple Remote as standard.
